The steppe cricket (Gryllus assimilis) is a fairly quiet species and makes a lot less noise than its peers, the house cricket or the field cricket. Also, the steppe cricket cannot jump as high and far as the house cricket. Furthermore, the steppe cricket has more meat on it than the ordinary house cricket, as they become slightly larger and thicker, so they are also more nutritious. Steppe crickets are also a lot slower, they require higher temperatures and cannibalism is a lot less than with the normal house crickets.
