The Alternanthera Cardinalis is a special aquarium plant with a red color. The plant owes its special appearance to the leaves, which are green at the top and dark red at the bottom. The stem plant has leaves that hang crosswise from the stem. The plant is ideal for the middle zone, but can also be placed in the background

The plant needs a lot of lighting and CO2 addition. Because it is a red plant, it needs a relatively large amount of iron. Additional iron may need to be added to ensure a deep red color.
