With sufficient light and the right conditions, the plant will remain low and will quickly produce shoots, which creates a surprisingly green field in the aquarium. When the plant gets a lot of light, it stays low. If necessary, the plant can be tied to wood or stone.

It does best when CO2 and plant food are also added. If the leaves turn yellow, this is a sign that there is some iron deficiency. This can be remedied by adding some extra iron to the plant food.

The plant propagates through newly produced shoots. These can be pruned and replanted.
